2026 Regional & Remote Music Summit to Be Held in Mount Gambier
The third edition of the summit comes to South Australia for the very first time next year.

MusicSA have confirmed the 2026 Regional & Remote Music Summit will be held in Mount Gambier/Berrin, Boandik Country.
The third edition of the national gathering heads to South Australia for the very first time after the inaugural event took place in conjunction with MusicNT in Darwin in 2024, with this year’s conference taking over in Byron Bay with support from MusicNSW.
The 2026 Summit, proudly supported by the Government of South Australia through the Music Development Office and the Australian Government through Music Australia, aims to promote and support local artists and industry professionals, hosting a range of panels, workshops, keynotes and live music spectaculars.
The Regional & Remote Music Summit is giving regional areas a voice and providing a platform to “champion regional music creativity, connection and collaboration.”
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the 2026 Summit to Mount Gambier,” said MusicSA CEO Christine Schloithe.
“Over the past several years, MusicSA has invested in building Mount Gambier as a regional touring hub—supporting local talent, connecting artists with venues, and building sustainable live music infrastructure. Hosting the Summit here is a natural next step and we can’t wait to share the region’s creative and music spirit with the rest of the country.”

South Australian Minister for Arts, Andrea Michaels MP, added, “The Malinauskas Government is committed to supporting the ongoing development of our local music industry. We want South Australia to be home to a thriving music culture including in our regions and Mount Gambier is the perfect place to host the Regional and Remote Music Conference.
This event will help build upon the previous support and investment we have made to support local artists on the Limestone Coast and bring together musicians and industry professionals for important conversations about how we can best champion regional music right across the country.”

“As just one example of what makes us unique, Mount Gambier is home to Generations in Jazz which has, for many years, challenged the metro-centric nature of arts access and performance opportunities, bringing together thousands of young musicians from across Australia to perform in a regional setting each year. In alignment with the wishes of our community, Council continues to strategically prioritise initiatives aimed at bolstering creative opportunities within our city, acknowledging this as a cornerstone to city vibrancy, an active CBD and an ever-growing nighttime economy.

Program details, featured speakers and artist showcases will be announced in 2026.
