Netflix has shared the first trailer for its upcoming documentary on Swedish DJ Avicii. Born Tim Bergling, Avicii died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 28.
Entitled Avicii – I’m Tim, the movie features interviews with a wide range of musicians, including David Guetta, Aloe Blacc and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Interestingly the doco is narrated by Avicii using archival footage.
“Through unique home movies and a huge private archive, we get to follow Tim on a winding journey through life – from the very first breath at the maternity ward in Stockholm in 1989 to the tragic end in Oman in 2018,” reads Netflix's synopsis.
“This is a film where Tim himself is the narrator and he shares his inner self in a way we haven't heard before. Through himself and everyone close to him – family, artist colleagues and best friends – we get to know Tim – the boy behind Avicii – for the first time.”
Avicii – I’m Tim arrives on Netflix on December 31 accompanied by a 30-minute concert film of footage shot during Avicii’s final performance at Ibiza’s Ushuaïa.

Avicii got his start DJing as a teenager, posting remixes online, leading to a record deal at the age of 16.
He went global in 2011 with the release of his hit single ‘Levels’, topping the charts in eight countries. Avicii dropped his debut album True in 2013 to great reviews, with the record topping the ARIA Charts.
Quickly establishing himself as a global superstar, Avicii followed with Stories in 2015 and went on to perform at the biggest musical festival across the world, along with headlining his own tours.
At the height of his career, Avicii retired from touring in 2016. He continued to record music but suffered from mental health issues for several years before taking his own life in 2018 while on holiday in Oman.
His third and final album, Tim, was released posthumously in 2019.
