Originally getting his start in 1956 with the Quarrymen, it wasn’t until John Lennon joined forces with fellow Liverpudlians Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and formed the Beatles that fame and fortune followed.
For seven years, the Beatles ruled the charts, releasing 12 albums and countless hit singles, before going their separate ways in 1970.
The next decade saw Lennon embark on a successful solo career, resulting in eight studio albums (three of which were collaborations with Yoko Ono) and three #1 Billboard 200 hit singles.
Lennon’s life was tragically cut short in 1980 when he was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman, although his legend lives on, with The Words & Music of John Lennon: Give Peace a Try, a wonderful way to pay homage to the great man.
Catch Adalita, Diesel, Steve Kilbey, Isabella Manfredi and Kevin Mitchell performing The Words & Music of John Lennon: Give Peace a Try at Festival Theatre on Saturday, July 12. Tickets on sale now via premier.ticketek.com.au.
