Bursting onto the scene as teenagers in the early 2000s, The Vasco Era’s compelling blues rock combo attracted fans from across the globe.
Releasing three albums in five years (2007’s Oh We Do Like To Be Besides the Seaside, 2010’s Lucille and 2011’s The Vasco Era) and gaining a reputation for their frantic live performances, The Vasco Era went silently into the night… until now.
‘I Don’t Mind’ is an absolute rip-snorter and a welcome return from The Vasco Era. The track is taken from the album of the same name (the band’s fourth), which arrives September 19 via Marthouse Records. Produced by longtime collaborator Greg Rietwyk, I Don’t Mind is split into two sides, Side A: Yelling and Side B: Crying. “This record is us embracing both chaos and beauty,” vocalist Sid O’Neil reflects. “Yelling and crying — two sides of the same coin.”
Speaking on their new track, O’Neil adds, “‘I Don’t Mind’ is about walking around seeing the lies and accepting them. But like all thought processes, just when you settle on a perspective, it gets upset. I’ve been through actual hell and almost heaven since our last release — this song is about almost reaching acceptance. Kinda.”
The track is accompanied by a music video featuring O’Neil walking barefoot in the bush with a walking stick his son made. “My son made a walking stick out of a goat skull, so I decided to walk around with it and make a film clip, as all good fathers would,” he says.
