Adelaide’s own The Tullamarines have shared their highly anticipated sophomore EP Safety Blanket. The EP features The Tullies’ trademark indie rock paired with lyrics about navigating life in your 20s.
“This EP came together during a time when everything felt like it was shifting both internally and externally. Forgive the pop punk cliché, but growing up is hard,” the band said in a statement.
“From losing old friends, self-worth, affording the rent and just trying to work out where the hell you’re going. These songs have been our safety blanket. Something we wrapped ourselves in when life felt overwhelming, uncertain, or just plain confusing.
“We recorded this EP with Izaac Wilson at the beginning of 2025 and it was a real process of letting go. It’s the most honest we’ve ever been and while it was terrifying in the moment, it feels so freeing to finally share these thoughts and feelings that have been swelling around in our heads with everyone. We really hope this EP can be there for others the way it has been for us. Whether that be a moment of clarity, an opportunity to let go and rock out in your bedroom, or just a feeling that you’re not the only one going through it.”
The Tullamarines have also shared the EP’s final single, ‘Gimme Luv’. A joyous guitar groover recalling indie sleaze classics, the track highlights everything we love about The Tullies.
“This song is all about the transaction of energy between two people, without going too into detail, it’s a love song through and through,” the band shared. “We really wanted to capture this indie-rock thing and then push it into an almost-electronic territory, which was really fun for us to do in the studio with Izaac. It’s also one of our favourite songs to play live at the moment, particularly because of how out of hand it gets towards the end.”
To celebrate the release of Safety Blanket, The Tullamarines are embarking on a national tour this October and November.
Beginning at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on Friday 10 October, the tour hits Sydney’s Waywards (Saturday 11 October), Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory (Friday 24 October), Scarborough’s Indian Ocean Hotel (Saturday 25 October), Fremantle’s Mojo’s (Sunday 26 October) and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club (Thursday 30 October), with the final date on Saturday 1 November at Volta in Ballarat.
