It’s a big day for fans of The Rions. Not only have the indie rockers announced that their debut album, Everything Every Single Day, is dropping October 3, but the lads have also shared new single ‘Tonight’s Entertainment’ and a stack of Australian tour dates.
‘Tonight’s Entertainment’ follows acclaimed singles ‘Maybe I’m Just A Freak’ and ‘Shut You Out’, both of which also appear on The Rions’ debut record Everything Every Single Day, at no holds barred insight into their lives, or as the band put it, “All our triumphs, our regrets, our shortcomings, our philosophies, our hopes, and our dreams on a 13-track silver platter.”
A reflective indie bopper, ‘Tonight’s Entertainment’ finds the band smelling the roses and taking note of their job as musos that“fills us with more gratitude than we know what to do with.”
“It was built around the piano riff Harley had written whilst in the green room of one of our shows in Canberra,” The Rions share. “We wanted to paint the picture of our gratitude, so to speak, with something as beautifully simple as ‘I wouldn’t change a thing if I could' in regards to what we get to do for a living. We are so lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful team every angle we turn, and it has allowed us to build a relationship with fans around the world.”
The track arrives with an official music video directed by Emily Mays, who had this to say about the clip, "It’s one thing to perform in front of thousands of people, but it takes a special kind of confidence to play on the street to no one, until it’s to someone," the band says. "Just pretending to perform on camera in character for the music video was hard enough for us, so we have the upmost respect for the artists that are out there every day, grinding. We chose a colourful lineup of characters for the video, spanning iconic industry freaks like the great, late David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust), inspirations of ours like Ringo Starr and Mk.gee with his latest album Two Star and the dream police, and the modern superstar Harry Styles.”
