Boston alt-rockers The Lemonheads return to Australia for a five-date tour this May.
The Evan Dando project have announced a special run of shows celebrating their seminal albums It’s a Shame About Ray (1992) and Come On Feel the Lemonheads (1993). The band will perform both records in their entirety, giving fans the opportunity to hear Lemonheads’ classics including ‘Into Your Arms’, ‘Big Gay Heart’, ‘It’s About Time’, and ‘My Drug Buddy’.
“I’m beyond stoked to be heading back to Australia,” Dando said in a statement. “Australia has always been a massive source of inspiration for my music, and with new music coming soon, this feels like a dream come true.”
He added, “It’s also a special moment for me as we wrap up celebrating the 30th anniversary of It’s A Shame About Ray and Come On Feel The Lemonheads. To be able to mark the end of that era in Australia, a place that’s always felt like a second home, is almost like being blessed to move on to a new moment.”
The Lemonheads tour begins in Melbourne at Croxton Bandroom on Friday, May 16 and continues with dates at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre on Sunday, May 18, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Tuesday, May 20, Adelaide’s The Gov on Thursday, May 22 and Perth’s Freo.Social on Friday, May 23.

Formed in Boston in 1986 by Evan Dando, Ben Deily, and Jesse Peretz, The Lemonheads became big on the touring college rock scene in the late ‘80s before commercial success struck in the early ‘90s with the one-two punch of It's a Shame About Ray (1992) and Come on Feel the Lemonheads (1993).
During this time The Lemonheads also released a cover of the Simon & Garfunkel hit, ‘Mrs. Robinson’, which went to the top of the ARIA Australian Alternative chart and became arguably their most successful release.
Calling it quits in 1997, Dando went solo before bringing The Lemonheads back in 2005. He has continued to perform and release music under The Lemonheads moniker with a revolving lineup of musicians, recently completing a 24-date tour of the States.
