The Chats Announce New Album and 17-Date Australian Tour

Five years on since The Chats told everyone to Get Fucked, the trio of Eamon Sandwith, Matthew Boggis and Joshua Hardy return with their third long player, Half Cut, out Friday 5 March 2027.

The record arrives after tours supporting Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and The Hives across multiple continents, along with a Coachella set that had audiences mesmerised.

Now in their mid-20s, the lads are a little wiser, with Sandwith describing Half Cut as "a fun rock and roll record" that's "a little more open than stuff we've written in the past."

"I definitely hesitate to use the word 'mature,' but it's a bit of a progression, I'd say," Sandwith confirms.

Recorded at Los Angeles’ Maple Sound Studio with Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay Whalley, the album explores hangovers, confrontation, reconciliation and even rehabilitation.

The Chats have also shared the album's first single, 'Off It', a blistering dose of punk rock accompanied by a hilarious music video shot by Matt Weston.

Then it's off to Sydney for three gigs at Crowbar on Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, followed by three shows at The Tote in Melbourne on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November.

The Chats then make their way to Tassie for three gigs, playing Hobart's Altar Bar on Friday 4 December, Forth Pub in Forth on Saturday 5 December and Launceston's Royal Oak on Sunday 6 December. Adelaide gets two concerts at Jive on Wednesday 9 and Lion Arts Factory on Thursday 10 December, before The Chats make their way to WA for a one-off show at the Indian Ocean Hotel on Friday 11 December in Scarborough, wrapping things up with two shows at Perth's Rosemount Hotel on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December.
