How good are Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers? So good!
The indie rock quartet have taken Australia (and the world) by storm these past few years, winning countless awards (three AIR Awards and an ARIA), dropping their top ten ARIA Album Chart debut album I Love You and sharing the stage with the likes of Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. Now the critically acclaimed act are back in 2025 with blistering new single, ‘BALCONY’.
Three and a half minutes of pure punk rock energy, ‘BALCONY’ was produced by Grammy Award winner Catherine Marks (boygenius' The Record, Wolf Alice, Foals), engineered by Oli Jacobs (Kendrick Lamar, beabadoobee, Taylor Swift) and mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty (Sabrina Carpenter, Lana Del Rey, Bleachers).
‘BALCONY’ was the first song written during a five-week straight recording session at The Grove Studios alongside Marks, with the band having this to say about working with the London-based producer: “We have learnt heaps from her and have been such huge fans for so long! She’s stupidly hardworking and makes us all feel very motivated and inspired, which is hard to do when you’re locked in an isolated studio for 5 straight weeks. Hallelujah and god bless Miss Marks.”
The release of ‘BALCONY’ coincides with Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers’ upcoming American tour return, with the band reuniting with Pearl Jam (who they supported in Australia) for six arena shows in Nashville, Raleigh, and Pittsburgh, and three headline dates in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.

Since then, it’s been an upward trajectory for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist ARIA Award winners, whose 2023 debut record, I Love You, peaked at #6 on the ARIA Album Chart. A deluxe version entitled I Love You Too followed in 2024 and featured the singles ‘Dull’, a collab with Softcult, and ‘Please Me’, featuring The Linda Lindas, along with countless award nominations and wins.
Now based across Ngunnawal/Canberra and Naarm/Melbourne, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have become a beacon of hope for the youth, creating heartfelt rock and roll that resonates with fans and addresses everyday issues people face in the modern world.
