After dropping the epic seven-minute banger ‘End of Summer’ back in July, Tame Impala returns with the groovy psych rocker ‘Loser’.
The new track is more in line with classic Tame Impala as opposed to the dance vibes of ‘End of Summer’. The chorus of ‘Loser’ is a possible nod to Beck’s classic track of the same name, with Kevin Parker singing, “I'm a loser, babe (Yeah) / Do you wanna tear my heart out?”
‘Loser’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Sam Kristofski and starring Joe Keery of Stranger Things fame.
In the music video, Keery appears upset after his lover leaves and begins wandering around LA. Ending up at a marketplace where he drinks a beer on the steps and momentarily morphs into Parker near the end of the clip, it’s an interesting watch, with Keery an enigmatic presence.
