After releasing the slick psych-rock single ‘Loser’ last week, Kevin Parker has revealed that Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, Deadbeat, will arrive via Columbia Records on October 17 (pre-order/pre-save here)
According to the press release, Deadbeat is influenced by the Western Australian rave scene, particularly the uniquely Aussie bush doof culture. The record was recorded between Parker’s hometown of Fremantle and in his personal studio, Wave House in Injidup, Western Australia, earlier this year.
Lyrically, the album explores struggling to get your life in order and presents raving as a form of self-care.
