Submissions Now Open for First Sounds Volume 14

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) and Gadigal Information Service/Koori Radio are doing their bit to amplify First Nations voices with the announcement of First Sounds Volume 14.
Submissions are now open until 11:50pm AEDT Thursday 16 April, for First Nations artists keen to contribute to the annual compilation that highlights new voices in the Australian music scene.
Spanning all genres of music, including alt-pop, country, soul, hip-hop, rock and more, this year’s First Sounds is curated by the likes of Lance Cheney (Koori Radio/Kameygal Studio), Sunny Luwe (artist), Kaleena Smith (MusicNSW) and Jack Hickey (Awesome Black).
Last year saw the powerful release of First Sounds Volume 13, which featured Perth-based Minang Noongar performer Ricky Neil Jr, Naarm singer-songwriter Naomi Diane, Kimberley-born artist ICONYX, Magandjin-based GLVES, cultural leader Jayden Kitchener-Waters, Sydney psych-indie outfit Krystal Rivvers led by Wurundjeri/Boon Wurrung frontman Earl Weir, Cherratta Road, the project of Ngarluma/Banjima artist Tyson Mowarin, rising Moree country artist Kyla Belle, and the Family Shoveller Band from Bidyadanga.

Since its inception, over 150 artists have appeared on First Sounds, with many going on to achieve their first-ever radio airplay and several earning chart success.
Alumni include BADASSMUTHA and Tha Deadly Boyz (Volumes 11 and 12), who have consistently landed in the top 10 of AMRAP’s weekly charts, demonstrating the importance and impact of First Sounds.
Independent First Nations musicians are invited to submit radio-ready music for consideration.
Submissions for First Sounds Volume 14 are now open until 11.59 pm AEST Thursday 16 April via firstsounds.amrap.org.au.
‘Life Is Long’ is Bromham’s first release since 2024’s ‘Adulthood’.
