After reforming several years ago with original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, alongside Jakob Nowell on vocals, Sublime have finally released a new album.
Until the Sun Explodes arrives 30 years after Sublime’s last album with former vocalist Bradley Nowell, whose son Jackob has stepped in to fill his void. Available now via Atlantic Records/Regime Music Group/SVNBVRNT Records, the record features collaborations with H.R. of Bad Brains, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise, G Love and more.
The title track and lead single ‘Until the Sun Explodes’ is currently #1 on the Mediabase Alternative radio chart and Billboard Alternative Airplay chart for the third consecutive week, marking Sublime’s second time topping the chart with new music after their 2025 single ‘Ensenada’.
“This album is a thank you to the fans, an acknowledgment of our shared history, a victory lap epilogue, and most importantly a love letter to my father,” says Jakon. “Nothing has challenged me more than stepping into the role of Sublime’s frontman and creating a record with the band. I owe my life to my dad, to Sublime, and to Southern California. Now is our time and the renaissance has begun. I’m truly proud and humbled to be a part of it. West Coast Alternative music is here to stay til the sun explodes.”
Gaugh adds, “It’s so crazy that we are releasing a new album now, 30 years later and it literally sounds like we just stepped out of our van yesterday, to go play the chilli cookoff in Long Beach! The legend continues!!!”
To celebrate the release of the new album, Sublime have dropped a visual for the focus track ‘F.T.R.’, which follows previously released singles ‘Gangstalker’, ‘Can’t Miss You’ and ‘Until the Sun Explodes’.

Emerging from the Long Beach, California music scene in 1988, Sublime’s reggae-punk sound took the alternative music scene by storm in the ‘90s.
Founded by Eric Wilson, Bud Gaugh and Bradley Nowell, the trio broke through in 1996 with their self-titled third studio album; however, success was marred by tragedy with the death of Bradley two months before the album’s release.
Despite the success of Sublime, which went 5x Platinum and spawned enduring hits like ‘What I Got’, ‘Santeria’ and ‘Wrong Way’, Wilson and Gaugh ended the band.
Fast forward almost three decades, and Jakob Nowell joined Gaugh and Wilson on stage for a special show in 2023, leading to the band reforming for Coachella 2024.
and helped propel the band to more than 18 million RIAA-certified album sales. A new era began in late 2023 when Bradley’s son, Jakob Nowell, joined original members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson onstage, leading to a full reunion and acclaimed performances at Coachella 2024.
This new iteration of Sublime marks an exciting new chapter for the band while paying tribute to Bradley’s legacy.
