Sydney pop punk underdogs SoSo have shared new single ‘Something More’, the latest taste of their upcoming debut album, So Much For Second Chances.
Dropping on Friday 21 November (pre-order here), the album has been a long time coming for the Sydney quartet. Produced by Stevie Knight (Yours Truly, Stand Atlantic, Between You & Me), So Much For Second Chances showcases the evolution of SoSo, incorporating synths, samples and heavier production into their pop punk sound.
‘Something More’ is a song that’s sure to resonate with anyone stuck in a dead-end, 9-5 job who has dreams of doing bigger and better things.
“Essentially, it’s a reflection of where each of the band members is at – we each hold down careers to fund our dream of doing what we love for a living, which is making music,” explains SoSo frontman Rhys de Burgh. “Throwing everything we have into SoSo with the hope it’ll take off so we can escape the 9-5 jobs we despise, but deep down understanding that it might never happen for us.”
To celebrate the release of their debut album, SoSo are hitting the road, with their national tour beginning on Halloween at Newcastle’s Hamilton Station Hotel on Friday 31 October. Dates follow at Melbourne’s Revolver on Friday 7 November, Sydney’s Meetro Social on Saturday 8 November, Brisbane’s The Brightside on Sunday 16 November and Adelaide’s Lowlife Basement on Friday 21 November.
Adelaide has already sold out, with the other shows selling fast, so be sure to grab your tickets asap via thesosocrew.sosopunx.com.

Understanding just how hard it is to make it in the music industry, SoSo have taken the unprecedented step of selling their debut album at a ridiculously cheap price. Quitting his job over a year ago, de Burgh has invested his time in discovering out-of-the-box ways to market the band, gaining millions of streams, a mailing list with over 10,000 subscribers and selling out shows across the nation.
Another bright spark he’s had was selling their album at a cheap price to help them achieve an ARIA Albums Chart #1. While they were already on track for a high finish, with 1,500 CD and vinyl pre-orders, the release of Taylor Swift’s new album put a dent in things. So the lads have taken drastic measures, selling their CDs at cost price and taking 28% off the vinyl price. They are also selling the digital download for just $4.95.
“And this isn’t some ‘pity the indie band’ thing,” SoSo wrote on social media, continuing, “Every pre-order comes loaded with exclusives.”
These exclusives include instant access to SoSo’s unreleased track ‘Keep It Up (Hate Me)’, live studio versions of every song and behind-the-scenes content.
So show your support for SoSo and the local music scene by buying their album or heading along to their shows. You won’t be disappointed.
