Sydney’s genre-bending post-punkers Shady Nasty have teamed with global electronic heavyweights KETTAMA and Fred again.. for chilling new single, ‘Air Maxes’.
Released via Steel City Dance Discs, there are two versions of ‘Air Maxes’ floating around the interwebs: the first a brooding, piano ballad called ‘Air Maxes (Ambient)', and the second a pulsating club banger rework entitled ‘Air Maxes (KETTAMA Remix)’.
The collaboration between Shady Nasty and KETTAMA came about after the two acts shared the stage at HAZARD Festival in Sydney, jumping into the studio for an impromptu session where ‘Air Maxes’ was crafted. The demo found its way to Fred again…, who put the finishing touches on the sublime track.
“‘Air Maxes’ is about losing sight of your ambition,” the band says. "Grinding toward something with no clear finish line can leave you wondering what might’ve happened if you’d taken a different path. Sometimes you need to hop in the whip and smoke the streets out just to remember why you’re putting in the hours. And sometimes, you need your mates to remind you to keep your head screwed on.”

Comprising Kevin Stathis, Haydn Green and Luca Watson, Shady Nasty are an anomaly in the post-punk world, combining their formal training in jazz and classical music with their varied influences (including King Krule, Low Life and Show Me The Body) to create mesmerising compositions that feel familiar yet brand new.
Gaining praise for their early EPs Bad Posture and CLUBSMOKE, Shady Nasty have been honing their craft over the past seven years, resulting in their long-awaited debut studio album, TREK.
Produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets, TREK dropped earlier this year and earned acclaim from the likes of fbi.radio (Album of the Week), RTR FM (Feature Album), triple j Unearthed (Feature Artist), NME Magazine, Ones to Watch and more.
Having recently shared the stage with Skeleten, Shame, High Vis, Ho99o9, Sleaford Mods, Gustaf and Amyl and The Sniffers, along with wowing Adelaide audiences with their appearance at Future Sounds, Shady Nasty have announced themselves as a force on the global music stage.
