Melbourne post-punk act Screensaver have announced a national tour in support of their upcoming third long player, Three Lens Approach.
Set for release on Friday 7 November via Poison City (per-order here), Three Lens Approach, which was recorded and mixed by Julian Cue at Bell City and mastered by Case Ricey, finds Screensaver adding more synths to their sound, with Yamaha and Casio keyboards incorporated into the mix.
This can be heard on the band’s new single, ‘Context Is Everything’ – a pulsating, ‘80s-inspired synth-heavy pop banger accompanied by a music video directed by fellow muso Geoffrey O'Connor.
Screensaver’s Australian tour takes in six dates this November and begins at The Tote in Melbourne/Wurundjeri on Saturday 15 November. Shows follow at Warrnambool/Gunditjmara’s The Dart and Marlin on Friday 21 November, Adelaide/Kaurna’s The Metro on Saturday 22 November, Newcastle/Awabakal’s The Croatian Club on Friday 28 November, Sydney/Gadigal’s Waywards on Saturday 29 November and Canberra/Ngunnawal’s Dissent Cafe on Sunday 30 November.

Comprising Christopher Stephenson on guitar/synth, Krystal Maynard on vocals/synth, James Beck on drums, Dorian Vary on bass/synth and Jonnine Nokes on synth, Screensaver have released two studio albums, 2021’s Expression of Interest and 2023’s Decent Shapes, since forming in 2016.
As reported by Tone Deaf, Maynard explained what Three Lens Approach is all about: “The theme of the album is power, how we wield it through language and action, how society is affected by the existing power structures, the consequences of the absence of it and how we harness it emotionally and intellectually as individuals, and as the collective.”
Catch Screensaver at The Hotel Metro on Saturday 22 November. Tickets on sale via linktr.ee/screensavermusic. Three Lens Approach arrives Friday 7 November. Pre-order here.
