Local indie rockers Purée have shared pulsating new single ‘Someone You’d Like’, the latest track taken from their upcoming EP, What Happens Now?, which drops Friday 28 November.
‘Someone You’d Like’ is a joyful combo of catchy guitar riffs and soaring hooks, with lead singer Matt Holland having this to say of the track: “This is one of the first songs we’ve ever written entirely based on a demo sample. Mack was filtering through his numerous folders and we stumbled on this really crunchy demo with just a guitar and some drums. It was the complete opposite to what we were looking for, but somehow exactly what we needed. Something really stuck with us and we collectively decided to see where this song went.
“We all pitched in on the lyrics – a vastly different writing landscape to our usual approach. None of us truly know what this song is about in its entirety, but we kind of like it that way – it’s like there are different pockets of each of our thoughts scattered throughout the song. Every little moment means something different to each person.”
‘Someone You’d Like’ is the third single taken from What Happens Now?, following on from the melodic ‘Inspired To Do Nothing’ and power pop of ‘GO’.
To celebrate the release of their sophomore EP What Happens Now?, Purée has announced a short run of shows, getting things underway with a hometown show at Adelaide’s Jive on Friday 27 February. The quartet then perform at Melbourne’s The Retreat on Saturday 28 February, Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Friday 6 March and Brisbane’s Blues on Saturday 7 March.
