Local electronic duo PINES have dropped new EP, Sun, ahead of their upcoming North American tour.
Six tracks of effervescent electronica for fans of Bonobo and Caribou, Sun is a nostalgia-informed journey PINES called a “love letter to the sun-drenched, outdoor energy of the 2010s indie-electronic scene.”
The EP features guest vocalist Amber Elle and includes contributions from composer Marcus Warner, mix engineer Tim Watt and mastering engineers Wayne 'Suture Mastering' Sunderland and George Georgiadis.
A playful, vibrant collection of tunes perfect for soundtracking pre-drinks or a relaxing day at the beach, Sun is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys anthemic electro house compositions with soul. You can stream Sun here.
In a chat The Note had with the band earlier this year before their appearance at Laneway Festival, they gave us an insight into the album, telling us to “expect more of that sunshine-filled, ethereal-but-danceable vibe, with moments of sampling woven in — not crate-digging exactly, but playing with textures in a way that adds depth to the sound.”
Having given the EP several spins, it’s hard to disagree with the above statement. Electronic bliss.
