Phil Campbell began playing the guitar at the age of 10. By the age of 13, he was performing locally with a cabaret band around his hometown of Pontypridd, Wales, before joining the pub rock act Roktopus. He formed his first heavy metal band, Persian Risk, at age 18, and less than five years later, he was performing with Motörhead on stages across the world.
Campbell remained with the band until they disbanded in 2015 after the death of frontman Lemmy Kilmister. He played on 16 of Motörhead’s albums and performed headline and festival gigs all over the globe.
Not long after the demise of Motörhead, Campbell recruited his three sons – Todd, Tyla and Dane – to play with him, and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons was born.
