After announcing an Australian tour last month, London-based Nigerian creative Obongjayar has today dropped Paradise Now & Forever, the deluxe edition of his acclaimed sophomore album Paradise Now.
The expanded edition contains five extra tracks, including the previously released ‘Give Me More’, a joyful, Paul Simon-like handclapper produced by the emerging Yeti Beats (Doja Cat).
The other four tracks are the lo-fi ‘4 U’, groovey ‘Just Cool’, uplifting ‘Tomorrow Man’ and the transformative electronic wonder ‘LIPDANCE’.
Recorded between London and LA, Paradise Now was produced by Kwes Darko (Pa Salieu, John Glacier), Yeti Beats (Doja Cat) and Beach Noise (Kendrick Lamar, Baby Keem, Bakar). The album received critical acclaim from media outlets across the globe, with Pitchfork calling the album “danceable, complex and ferocious.”
To coincide with the release of Paradise Now & Forever, Obongjayar is touring Australia and New Zealand next year, performing a mix of headline concerts and festivals.
Taking his phenomenal live show on the road, Obongjayar visits Ōtautahi/Christchurch on Friday 27 February, performing at Electric Avenue Festival. Obongjayar then heads to Australia for five dates, performing headline concerts at Metro Theatre in Eora/Sydney on Tuesday 3 March, Princess Theatre in Meanjin/Brisbane on Wednesday 4 March and Northcote Theatre in Naarm/Melbourne on Friday 6 March, and finishing with two festival appearances at Golden Plains Festival in Wadawurrung Land/Meredith on Saturday 7 March and WOMADelaide Festival in Tarntanya/Adelaide on Sunday 8 March.
