Glam rock is well and truly alive thanks to Akaye outfit Mulga Bore Hard Rock, whose debut album, Sweet Home Mulga Bore, is a killer mix of gigantic riffs and catchy hooks.
Comprised of Thunder Child (Alvin Manfong - vocals/guitar), Desert Demon (Kirklen Bird - bass/vocals), Desert Dingo (Aiden Manfong - drums), Queen of Hearts (Niara Tilmouth - vocals/tambourine), Star Boy (Tryell Bird - guitar/vocals) and Black Diamond (Talvin Bird - bass), the group’s ages range from 15 to 20 years old, with Sweet Home Mulga Bore an impressive body of work from such a young outfit.
Out now via Community Music, the album was recorded alongside producers Dave Walker and Craig Harneth in the latter's St Kilda Studio. The eight-track release showcases the group’s powerful stories through the album’s electrifying soundscapes on songs including the previously released singles ‘Young Men’, ‘Sweet Home Mulga Bore’, ‘Heavy Rain’, ‘Stay’, ‘Big Train’ and new track ‘Warna Prut’ – a classic shot of rock and roll with a dynamic solo and anthemic, singing-along choruses.
