The creation of Håvard Ellefsen, former bassist of black metal band Emperor, Mortiis is one of the most famous metal bands to emerge from Norway in recent years. Ellefsen is the only constant member of Mortiis, and since the projects inceptoin in 1993, it has gone through several different eras, releasing over a dozen albums.
Nytt Land comprises husband and wife duo Anatoly and Natalya Pakhalenko, with their music weaving Norse mythology and historic texts with traditional Siberian instruments, nature sounds and throat singing.
Then there’s TiR, the introspective synth folk project helmed by multi-instrumentalist and composer Oytun Bektas, who has carved his own niche in the metal scene over the past decade.
This is one triple bill not to be missed for fans of dark, ambient folk music with a dash of black metal.
