media puzzle are ramping things up ahead of the release of their fourth studio album New Racehorse, sharing their latest single, ‘More Horse, Less Code’.

Following the release of ‘Knowledge’, Tom Peter’s solo project turned avant-garde band’s experimental new track is all distorted vocals, feel-good riffs and horse sounds.

Speaking on the song, lead vocalist and guitarist Peter says, “‘More Horse, Less Code’. More Life, Less Tech. We’re all guilty. Made on a whim and easily the funnest song to create on the album, the song is somewhat of an absurdist take on our reliance on modern technology.”

Named after a 2002 Melbourne Cup-winning Irish racehorse, media puzzle was originally the solo project of Tom Peter (lead vocals/guitar), who now performs with Kellie Eden (synth/trumpet), Eden Yeigh (guitar), Oliver Clarke (drums) and Solomon Jones (bass).

Dropping the EP 14 in 2023, media puzzle have gone on to release three studio albums, Jockey (2023), A Brief History of Planets, Space and Shit (2023) and Intermission (2024), with Pitchfork calling the latter an “uncanny creativity that egg-punk weirdos love to tout, residing somewhere between Suicide’s dark melodies and Uranium Club’s remote eccentricities.”

Having toured with the likes of Ty Segall, Regurgitator and more over the past couple of years, media puzzle are heading out on a solo headline national east coast tour this April, sadly bypassing Adelaide.
