Northern Rivers-based artist and musician Tom Peter’s solo project media puzzle returns with their fourth album, New Racehorse, due April 17 via Impressed Recordings.
New Racehorse has been described in press material as “a surreal commentary on modern existence: technology, love, death, responsibility, and ego.” It has a much more experimental edge, with the new single ‘Knowledge’ a frantic two minutes of distorted vocals, funky riffs and uplifting trumpet.
Speaking about ‘Knowledge’, the band shares, “the only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing. ‘Knowledge’ is a satirical take on people who carry themselves like they know everything - and how frustrating that can be.”
The track is accompanied by a '90s-inspired music video that fits the album’s horse theme.

Named after the 2002 Melbourne Cup-winning Irish racehorse, media puzzle is fronted by Tom Peter (lead vocals/guitar) with support from Kellie Eden (synth/trumpet), Eden Yeigh (guitar), Oliver Clarke (drums) and Solomon Jones (bass).
Announcing themselves in 2023 with the EP 14, media puzzle found themselves the toast of the music world, and have gone on to release three studio albums, Jockey, A Brief History of Planets, Space and Shit and Intermission, with Pitchfork calling the latter an “uncanny creativity that egg-punk weirdos love to tout, residing somewhere between Suicide’s dark melodies and Uranium Club’s remote eccentricities.”
Having shared the stage with the likes of Ty Segall, Regurgitator and many more over the past couple of years, media puzzle are heading out on a solo headline national tour this April, although they are sadly bypassing Adelaide.
