As excitement builds for the release of Genesis Owusu’s hotly anticipated third studio album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, out Friday 15 May via OURNESS, the Ghanaian-Australian auteur has shared new single ‘LIFE KEEPS GOING’.
A punchy club track with a rich DnB beat, Owusu says of the song, “The world hasn’t ended yet. We’re still moving, we’re still jumping, we’re still living, and so we shall continue. Through rain, shine, exploitation and warfare. We, the people, will always stubbornly persist, and hopefully persist hand in hand.”
REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE comprises 15 genre-bending tracks, including the previously released singles ‘PIRATE RADIO’, ‘DEATH CULT ZOMBIE’ and ‘STAMPEDE’
Speaking on the album, Owusu says, “I started writing this album because I was seeing so much of the world and watching what was happening. I felt like I had something important to say. I was writing this almost for necessity because there were so many people not saying what needed to be said. I feel like I’m a student of Nina Simone, and she said, ‘The purpose of an artist is to reflect the times they live in’.”
