Melbourne hardcore beasts Iron Mind have announced their first headline Australian tour in 11 years.
The raging five-piece are hitting the road in support of their upcoming new record, Test of the Iron Mind.
Arriving June 13 via Last Ride Records/Flatspot Records, the album is produced by Otis Bennie (AWOL), recorded by Sam Johnston at The Black Lodge and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit. It contains 11 bone-crunching tracks of hardcore punk and includes singles ‘Solitary Reign’ and the just-released title track.
Speaking on the new single, vocalist Sam Octigan says, “The eponymous track of the record sums up who and what Iron Mind is. ‘Test Of The Iron Mind’ became the record title early on in the process, as a nod to our history but looking at the topic with contemporary eyes.
The song and title goes back to our 2008 track ‘The Iron Mind', that has become a live show staple for us. The ‘test’ in ‘Test Of The Iron Mind’ is us looking back on those original lyrics from 2008 and reflecting that the challenges don’t get easier, but with experience we can develop better tools.”
Iron Mind’s Test of the Iron Mind Live 25’ headline tour takes in eight dates across the country this June and July, with support coming from fellow hardcore heroes The Chain and Melbourne heavy hitters Horsepower.
The tour kicks off in Brizzy with gigs at Crowbar on Friday, June 13 and Sandgate Town Hall on Saturday, June 14. The tour continues with two Melbourne gigs at Howler on Friday, June 20 and Phoenix Youth Centre on Saturday, June 21, before Iron Mind travel to NSW for shows at Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel on Thursday, June 26, and Newcastle’s Hamilton Station on Friday, June 27. The final two dates of the tour take place at Adelaide’s Jive on Friday, July 4 and Perth’s Lynott’s Lounge on Saturday, July 5.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now via lastriderecords.com.

Iron Mind have been delivering hellish riffs for almost two decades, with the Melbourne lads breaking through with their 2009 EP, The Sun Has Set.
They followed up two years later with their debut album, Hell Split Wide Open, with The Music calling it “an expectedly solid hardcore debut” and awarding the record four stars.
Iron Mind’s Self-titled sophomore album arrived in 2014 and saw the band touring alongside the likes of Turnstile, Terror, No Warning and Harm’s Way.
After several years of inactivity, with the odd live show here and there, Iron Mind returned in 2023 with the single ‘Assume Your Ultimate Form’ and got to work on their upcoming new long player.
Catch Iron Mind at Jive on Friday, July 4. Tickets on sale now via moshtix.com.au. Test of the Iron Mind arrives June 13 via Last Ride Records/Flatspot Records. Pre-order here or pre-save here.
