Holly Throsby Delivers New Single 'Tell Me I’m Done'
The singer-songwriter's sixth studio album is set for release in September.

Holly Throsby has shared new single 'Tell Me I'm Done', the latest track taken from the singer-songwriter's upcoming sixth studio album, Normal Magic, out Friday 4 September.
'Tell Me I'm Done' throbs like a heartbeat, with Throsby's delicate vocals accompanied by synths, guitars and even flutes. “Sonically, this song feels like the heart of the album," Throsby explains. "Nylon string guitar, bass, programmed drums, synth, flutes – I love the marriage of sounds. And the sentiment is very true for this time in my life: that feeling of creative obsession that is exciting and utterly exhausting; wanting people to be kind; not knowing how to work anything, but trying anyway; wanting to take care of people, but also really just wanting someone to take care of me.”
Throsby's new album offers fans something a little different, with the self-produced 10-track collection featuring a more electronic edge, with the Sydney folk artist experimenting with programmed beats, synths, electric guitars and more.
The album includes collaborations with a vast array of incredible musicians, including multi-instrumentalist Jordan Ireland (The Middle East), Helen Franzmann (Mess Esque, McKisko), Laura Jean, Oliver Mestitz (The Finks) and Jake Core (Soda Eaves).
The songs on Normal Magic were written and recorded in various homes across the country, with the majority of the album engineered at Stranded Studios in Bellambi (Babitha, Body Type), while Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, The Drones, Julia Jacklin) mixed the record in Provence, France.
Speaking about Normal Magic, Throsby says, “The concept for this record stemmed from a conversation about what is normal and what is magic. Art making, for example, is quite magical and quite normal at the same time, and the concept expanded as the songs were written to be a kind of a celebration of the magic of normal life – little moments of beauty and wonder which can be so sustaining. A sunbeam or a bird or a moment of synchrony.”
