The EP arrives ahead of Holly Hebe's upcoming Australian Tour.

Holly Hebe's highly anticipated third EP Mood Ring is finally here. The seven-track release is an immersive collection of songs exploring heartbreak, superstition, nostalgia and the emotional chaos of growing up.

"Mood Ring is a collection of songs about clinging onto signs, being desperately hopeful and aimlessly sad, superstition and heartbreak," says Hebe. "Whilst writing and producing this EP I spent a lot of time drawing and painting, thinking about colours and textures and then trying to emulate this in the sonic landscapes of the songs. Every song has a colour paired with it, and eventually they all morphed into one giant emotional pinwheel for me that documents the last year of my life.

"I wanted to lean into the whimsy of sparkling reversed sounds, vivid lyricism and layered vocals, and incorporate more of the piano which is well and truly my musical home base. All the songs are so special to me."

Focus track 'Nineteen' finds Hebe looking back on a failed relationship and discovering how she lost a little part of herself during that time. "I wrote this song after one of those rites of passage, cataclysmic heartbreaks, and at the time, my core coping mechanism was to try and pretend the relationship never even happened in the first place. This song is about the sliding doors of it all, the ‘what if this ended after the first date’ and the realisation that you had lost yourself a little along the way."

To celebrate the release of Mood Ring, Hebe is hitting the road this week, kicking off her national tour in Sydney at the Metro Theatre on Friday 24 July. The tour then heads to Brisbane’s Music Industry College on Saturday 25 July, The Tuning Fork in Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday 29 July, Adelaide’s The Austral on Friday 31 July and Perth’s YMCA HQ on Saturday 1 August, before wrapping up with a matinee show at The Epsy in Melbourne on Saturday 8 August.
