Earlier this week, hip hop icons Hilltop Hoods announced their first Australian headline tour since 2022. Now the trio of Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debries have unveiled new single, ‘Never Coming Home’, the third track taken from their upcoming ninth studio album, Fall From The Light (pre-order here).

A collaboration with New Zealand act SIX60, ‘Never Coming Home’ is a rousing track about following your dreams and achieving whatever you set your mind to.

‘Never Coming Home’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Jeremy Koren that features MMA powerhouse and UFC Featherweight World Champion Alexander Volkanovski alongside Colby Thicknesse (UFC Bantamweight Fighter), Aaron Maher (Oceania freestyle wrestling national champion), double ADCC Jiu Jitsu champion Adele Fornarino, Craig Jones (number 2 grappler in the world) and Adam Jones (BJJ Black Belt).

Speaking on the track, Suffa says, “‘Never Coming Home’ is about striving for greatness, and that’s why it made sense to have World Champion, Alex Volkanovski, in the clip. Talking to him about what he’s achieved, you quickly realise that the ingredients of greatness are talent and discipline. And Volk is talent and discipline in their purest forms.”

Pressure adds,“‘Never Coming Home’ is about a journey of self-growth and achievement. It’s about setting out on that sojourn and not coming back until you’ve achieved your goals. This song was the first one we wrote over a two-day writing session with SIX60 & One Above and became our favourite writing collaborations we’ve done in years. Massive shout out to Alexander The Great Volkanovski and Colby Thicknesse for being in the clip and bringing it to life.”

Matiu Walters of SIX60 had this to say, “Writing ‘Never Coming Home’ with the Hoods just felt very natural, when we connected there was a mutual respect between us. We wrote a bunch of songs with this one coming together quickly. That was a couple of years ago, so it’s really cool to see Never Coming Home now out in the world, everything has its time and the time is now.”

Produced by One Above, with additional work by Sesta and Suffa, Fall From the Light includes collaborations with Kiwi group SIX60 and Australian songstress Nyassa.

“This album has been an exercise in patience. Six years is a long time between albums, but there’s a good reason for that. There was a lot happening, in the world and in our lives. But it turns out (from my perspective anyway), that time was the albums strength, not its weakness,” explains Suffa.

“We’ve never been so thorough, so pedantic with an album before. The result is something that’s been carefully crafted with an extreme attention to detail. It’s an album that we’re really proud of, and a body of music that we can’t wait to share with everyone.”

Pressure adds, “We really took our time with this one. We put more years into it than any other of our albums because we wanted it to be our best work to date. Putting it out after so long feels more monumental and exciting than ever.”

DJ Debris says, “After the longest period between albums, I’m so proud to be able to finally release this body of work to our listeners…and really can’t wait to deliver these new tunes live.”

Fall From The Light will be available as a limited edition 180-gram 2LP coloured vinyl, with the first pressing coming with a special gatefold design. CD and tape versions of the album, along with official merch, will also be up for grabs. Fans can pre-order from here.
