You should LISTEN to
Barriers – ‘Perpetual Curse’
When members of Cry Murder, Embodiment 12:14 and other elite acts come together to create a sludgy post-metal project of devastation, the metal universe is set alight in lustrous gloom. “Lustrous gloom metal” is an impeccable description for this momentous quartet. ‘Perpetual Curse’ is an adventurous musical movement. Exquisite post-rock magically transitions to a Gojira and Encircling Sea hybrid of cacophonous intensity, then back again. “Seared and burnt, branded in our souls,” Kyle Bloksgaard bellows: what a befitting portrayal of Barriers’ astounding artistry.
You Should See
Blood Incantation
Imagine a coalescence of Morbid Angel, Pink Floyd, Krautrock and John Carpenter into a soundscape driven by Old School Death Metal: welcome to Denver’s Blood Incantation. If the aforementioned description was not oddly intriguing enough, perhaps the quartet’s fascination and lyrical themes of alien conspiracies, cosmic horror, mysticism, and questioning our own universe via guttural screams might boil your blood in the best way. Prepare to fall under their Astral Spell.
