You should LISTEN to

I CHOOSE VIOLENCE – ‘Human Effigy’

The Oxford Learner’s Dictionary defines an ‘effigy’ as ‘a model of a person that makes them look ugly’. If this practice required a soundtrack, deathcore would be exceptionally befitting. I CHOOSE VIOLENCE execute this noise monstrously well – Whisteria Cottage are a notable influence. However, where the outfit stands out is with their artistic endeavours utilising the incredible instru-METAL explorations of Russian Circles. The five-piece then unleash breakdowns of devastating ramifications that leave “the earth forever scarred”.

Counterparts are returning to Australia to support their EP Heaven Let Them Die, which vocalist Brendan Murphy describes as “…raw, uncompromising, and unfiltered.” Their last visit was supporting ARCHITECTS at the AEC, but experiencing the Ontarians in an intimate venue will be a savage showcase for the ages. Portland’s rising metalcore maniacs Dying Wish and Melbourne’s Terminal Sleep are also along for the vicious venture.
