Genre-defying guitarist and composer Julian Lage has announced he’s coming to Australia for the very first time this September.
Fusing classical music with American folk, Lage is a prodigious talent whose upcoming tour continues the 10th anniversary celebrations of his breakthrough solo album World’s Fair, along with his recnently release released 2026 record Scenes From Above.
Lage’s Australian tour gets underway in Adelaide at Festival Centre on Friday 11 September, followed by concerts at Hobart’s Theatre Royal on Saturday 12 September, Melbourne’s Recital Centre on Monday 14 September, Canberra’s Street Theatre on Wednesday 16 September and Sydney’s City Recital Hall on Thursday 17 September, with the final date on Friday 18 September at Byron Theatre in Byron Bay.

A child prodigy, Lage performed at the 2000 Grammy Awards at 12 before becoming a faculty member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop at age 15.
He’s gone on to release more than 15 solo albums and countless collaborative LPs, performing alongside the likes of Gary Burton, John Zorn, Nels Cline, Chris Eldridge and Fred Hersch.
