Gotts Street Park Collaborate With Pip Millet on New Track 'Flowers'

This is the third offering from the UK trio's upcoming sophomore album, 'Somewhere Between'.

'Flowers' is the latest single taken from Gotts Street Park's forthcoming sophomore studio album Somewhere Between, set for release on Friday 16 October via Play It Again Sam.

A cruisey throwback soul number, the track finds the Leeds-based trio reuniting with long-time collaborator Pip Millett.

"'Flowers' is about going through the bad to grow into something beautiful. It’s a reminder that the bad days won’t last forever," explains Millet.

"We originally wrote this in a studio called the Chairworks, just outside of Leeds. We were doing a session for Pip's album and ended up with about four tunes," Gotts Street Park add. "This one wasn't as fleshed out – it was more of a stripped-back groove – but there was something so fun about playing it. We were playing the same section for about 20 or 30 minutes and just loved it. It just kept on wanting to be played."

Expanding on their jazz-meets-hip hop-infused sound, Somewhere Between finds Gotts Street Park drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Dick Gaughan, Jessica Pratt, Big Thief and Blaze Foley, in addition to the working methods of the house bands at Stax Records and Sun Records.

The 11-track record features the previously released singles 'Some Birds Don’t Fly' and 'Easy' and collaborations with Celeste, Olive Jones, Matt Maltese, Sofia & The Antoinettes, anais and Rosie Lowe.

Speaking on the evolution of their sound, the band said, "The key part is we’ve added some complexity and more flavours, whilst not departing from our hazy soul jazz sound. It's about new strands weaving through what we already do."

Comprised of producer/writers Josh Crocker (bass, production), Tom Henry (keys) and Joe Harris (guitar), Gotts Street Park have slowly but surely earned their place amongst the UK's most creative outfits of the past decade.

First getting noticed with their projects Volume One and Volume Two, it was the release of the instrumental outfit's 2023 debut album On The Inside that saw them gain a global audience. Featuring collaborations with Pip Millet, ENNY and Olive Jones, the album received critical acclaim and went on to exceed 300 million streams across all platforms.

Arriving three years later, Somewhere Between finds the band pushing their sound into new spaces as they look to continue their thrilling rise.
