Ahead of the release of their much anticipated sixth album, The Human Fear, Scottish indie rockers Franz Ferdinand have shared the album’s third single, ‘Hooked’.
The track is a synth-heavy burst of indie sleaze that finds frontman Alex Kapranos singing the uplifting chorus, “You got me hooked.”
‘Hooked’ follows singles ‘Audacious’ and ‘Night or Day’, with all three songs taken from The Human Fear, arriving this Friday, January 10 (pre-order here)

In a previous statement about the 11-track album, Kapranos said: “Making this record was one of the most life-affirming experiences I’ve had, but it’s called The Human Fear. Fear reminds you that you're alive. I think we all are addicted in some way to the buzz it can give us. How we respond to it shows how we are human. So here’s a bunch of songs searching for the thrill of being human via fears. Not that you’d necessarily notice on first listen.”
The release of The Human Fear is Franz Ferdinand’s first studio album since 2018s Always Ascending and the first to feature guitarist Dino Bardot and drummer Audrey Tait, who replaced Nick McCarthy and Paul Thompson respectively.
Franz Ferdinand also revealed a run of UK, European, North American and Canadian tour dates beginning in early 2025.
