Following on from their previously released 2024 singles ‘Wasting Time’ and ‘Same Old Story’, Eora/Sydney-based punk rockers FANGZ bring the year to an end with the blistering ‘Wide Awake’.
A pummelling guitar number, the tune was produced by Tim Maxwell (LOSER) and mixed by Jonathan Gardner (Front End Loader, Grinspoon).
Speaking on the track, FANGZ frontman Josh Cottreay said: “‘Wide Awake’ is about that gut-wrenching moment when you’re lying awake, realizing a relationship that once felt so right just isn’t there anymore. It’s that quiet understanding that somehow, along the way, you both changed and now you’re almost strangers. There’s no anger here, just a bittersweet acceptance – letting go with respect and a bit of sadness, knowing it’s time to find happiness in new directions.”

Along with dropping ‘Wide Awake’, FANGZ have announced FANGZstock – a run of mini-festival East Coast shows in January. All three gigs will feature FANGZ and Mountain Wizard Death Cult sharing the stage with a host of awesome local acts.
Beginning in Meanjin/Brisbane at Tomcat, FANGZ and Mountain Wizard Death Cult will be joined by up-and-coming acts SomethingSomething Explosion, Boofheads, Joy In Motion and Boys at the Back. Then it’s off to Naarm/Melbourne’s Workers Club for a gig alongside Raging Hormones, Arabella and The Heist, Damaged Goods Club and Dear Matilda. The final edition of FANGZstock takes place in FANGZ’s hometown Eora/Sydney at Botany View Hotel with local bands Bare Bones, Dedpan, Creep Features and Second Idol.
FANGZstock will also include several fun activities for punters, including a hot dog eating competition, ‘Unlucky’ door price and a kissing booth.
