Emily Wurramara Makes ARIA History & Announces ‘NARA’ Album Encore Tour
Emily Wurramara’s NARA won the ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album of the Year.

It’s been some year for Lutruwita/Tasmania-based artist and proud Warnindhilyagwa woman Emily Wurramara. Not only has her sophomore album NARA been critically praised, peaking at #17 on the ARIA Album Charts, but the record also took out the ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album of the Year, with Wurramara the first Indigenous woman to ever win in this category.
“I [want] to say how honoured I am to be the first Indigenous woman to win the Best Adult Contemporary Album Award ever in ARIA history,” Wurramara said about her history making win.
“I'd just like to acknowledge all the Elders and all the mob who came here in order for me to be here. NARA is a big album for me, and I am so so honoured to be receiving this nod and recognition - big love, and thanks everyone for the support"
Co-produced by Wurramara and James Mangohig (A.B. Original, Daniel Johns) at Boat Ramp Studios on Larrakia Country, NARA contains the triple j played singles ‘Midnight Blues’, ‘STFAFM’, ‘Magic Woman’ and ‘Lordy Lordy’, which won the J Award for rage & triple j Film Clip of the Year.
Reviews for the record have been extremely positive, with ABC News having this to say about NARA: “Once you hear it, that wait will feel insignificant – this is a comprehensive exploration of the many dimensions of Emily Wurramara's musical powers.”

To celebrate her recent award success, Wurramara has revealed she’s heading back on the road with the NARA album encore tour.
Wurramara gets things started with a solo show at Naarm/Melbourne’s Workers Club on Friday, February 7 before a run of festival appearances that includes Treaty Day Out in Gunaikurnai Country/Morwell (Saturday, February 8), Riverboats Music Festival in Yorta Yorta Country/Echuca (Saturday, February 15), Perth Festival in Boorloo/Perth (Sunday, February 16) and Tarndanya Kaurna Yerta/Adelaide’s own WOMADeliade, with Wurramara performing on Friday, March 7 and Monday, March 10.
The final shows of the NARA album encore tour take place at Dharawal Country/Wollongong as part of Great Southern Nights on Friday, March 21 and at Belco Arts Centre in Ngunnawal Country/Belconnen on Saturday, March 22.
