Earlier this year, Aussie metal heavyweights Daysend got people talking when they revealed their acclaimed 2003 debut album, Severance, would be finally arriving on streaming platforms.
Now the lads have announced they are getting back together and embarking on a national tour to celebrate Severance, marking their first live shows in 14 years.
The current lineup of OG members Simon Calabrese (vocals), Aaron Bilbija (guitar) and Michael Kordek (guitar) will be joined by returning member Jason Turnbull (bass) and new drummer Mathew Piccolotto (ex-Switchblade).
Fans can expect to hear the majority of tracks from Severance, along with a selection of songs from Daysend’s follow-up albums The Warning and Within the Eye of Chaos.
Daysend’s reunion tour takes in six dates and begins with an appearance at Brisbane’s Necrosonic Festival on Saturday 23 August.
The band then perfomr headline concerts at Newcastle’s Hamilton Station Hotel on Saturday 6 September, Canberra’s The Baso on Saturday 11 October, Adelaide’s Ed Castle on Saturday 29 November and Sydney’s The Underground on Saturday 13 December, before wrapping things up in the new year at Melbourne’s Stay Gold on Saturday 7 February 2026.

Coming together in 2002, the original lineup of Daysend combined the talents of Aaron Bilbija, Matt Lamb and Meredith Webster. The melodic death metal act wasted no time writing and recording their debut album, Severance, released in 2003.
The album received widespread acclaim from the local metal community and was voted Best Australian Metal Album of 2003 by triple j listeners.
The next eight years saw several lineup changes, two more albums – The Warning (2007) and Eye of Chaos (2010) – and tours supporting the likes of Slipknot, Trivium, Arch Enemy, In Flames and Machine Head.
Sadly for fans it all came to an end in 2011 with the band calling it a day. It’s been all quiet on the Daysend front since then, but after Severance popped up on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music earlier this year, Daysend have revealed they are back together and ready to prove their live credentials once again.
