Crowded House Announce 2024 Australian & New Zealand Tour
The band is hitting the road in support of new album, Gravity Stairs.
In mixed news for Crowded House fans, the legendary Australasian band has revealed they heading out on the road later this year in support of their new album, Gravity Rising, but sadly skipping Adelaide
This is a disappointing outcome for SA fans who will have to travel interstate to see the current lineup of Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Finn's two sons Elroy and Liam, strut their stuff this November and December.
The tour begins in New Zealand with seven dates lined up in Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, Palmerston North, Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland.
Crowded House then crosses the Tasman for the final leg of the tour with shows in Perth, two in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Brisbane.
“So looking forward to getting amongst our people having practised on the Northern Hemisphere for a few months. The band will be running hot, and we can't wait to sing with you and elevate our collective spirits. Sing it if you want to be a part of Some Greater Plan,” Finn says in a statement about the tour.
The tour comes in support of Crowded House’s new album, Gravity Stairs, set for release on Friday, May 31. Produced in collaboration with Steven Schram (Paul Kelly, San Cisco), the album is influenced by a set of heavy stones that form a staircase near Finn’s holiday home.
“It’s a metaphor for getting a little older and becoming aware of your own mortality, your own physicality,” Finn explains. “Things are getting a little harder, and there’s more determination needed to get to the top, but there’s still the same compulsion to climb them.”
There are a whopping four pre-sales for the tour, with the first three pre-sales – One New Zealand, Vodafone Australia and Mastercard – all commencing Monday, May 27 at 10:30am local time. Live Nation pre-sale follows on Wednesday, May 29 at 11:30am before general sale begins on Thursday, May 30 at 11:30am.
