After Cold Chisel announced their 50th anniversary tour with a headline spot at this year’s VAILO Adelaide 500, Crowded House has also been confirmed as part of the after-race entertainment.
This is fantastic news for Adelaide music lovers, especially Crowded House fans, who were left angered by the band leaving the City of Churches off their original tour schedule.
Crowded House will play the night of Saturday, November 16 and Cold Chisel on Sunday, November 17 as part of the after-race concerts. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
Hitting the stage Saturday night, Crowded House will take motorheads on a journey through their four decade catalogue of songs. Fans can expect to hear all the band’s big hits from this current lineup that features Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Finn’s sons Elroy and Liam. They will be joined by singer-songwriter Meg Mac, who recently released her third album Matter of Time.
Speaking about securing Crowded House, VAILO Adelaide 500’s Event and Concert Manager Brian Gleeson OAM said: “It is so exciting to have rock royalty Crowded House perform for our fans for the first time at the 2024 VAILO Adelaide 500 After Race Concert Series.
“With 13 ARIA Awards, they are an internationally renowned act who will no doubt draw fans from all across the state.”
Cold Chisel takes over the entertainment on Sunday night as part of their ‘The Big Five-O’ Australian tour. Just like their New Zealand peers, Chisel will be playing all the hits, with songs like ‘Khe Sanh’, ‘Flame Trees’, ‘Cheap Wine’ and ‘Bow River’ sure to get the crowd up and about. Support for Chisel’s headline spot will come from The Cruel Sea and The Superjesus.
“We are so thrilled to have rock icons Cold Chisel perform at the 25th event,” said Gleeson. “We have had many amazing artists perform over the years at the After Race Concerts and this year is set to be the biggest by far.”
