After selling out shows across the UK, Blur’s Alex James is bringing his Britpop Classical tour to Australian shores.
As the title of the tour suggests, these shows feature James reimagining some of the biggest songs in Britpop history with a live orchestra. Think classic tracks from the likes of Blur, Oasis, Pulp, The Verve, Supergrass and more.
The tour includes appearances from some very special guests, with bassist James accompanied by a full live band and vocalists alongside local orchestras.
The Britpop Classical tour commences at The Star on the Gold Coast on Tuesday 3 November and continues with dates at Brisbane’s Convention & Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 4 November, Melbourne’s The Palais on Friday 6 November, Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on Sunday 8 November and Sydney’s State Theatre on Tuesday 10 November, with the final concert at Riverside Theatre in Perth on Thursday 12 November.
There are two pre-sale options, with the Mastercard and Mellen Events pre-sales taking place from 11am AEST Wednesday 22 April to 10am AEST Friday 24 April. General on-sale kicks off at 11am AEST Friday 24 April. Full ticketing information is available at mellenevents.com.au.

“Somehow all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released,” says Alex. “Bringing them back to life with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends and very special guests have been brilliant – and I absolutely cannot wait to get this show to Australian audiences.”
Britpop Classical is a celebration of one of British music’s most beloved eras and features iconic Britpop anthems transformed into soaring orchestral compositions that appeal to both old school fans and the new generation of music lovers.
