Born in Illinois, Bill Evans was schooled in both classical piano and Chicago’s deep jazz before studying with Bunky Green. Moving to New York in 1979, he soon caught the ear of Miles Davis, helping shape the career of one of the world’s greatest trumpeters at just 22 years of age.
Evans performed on Davis’ landmark releases The Man With The Horn, We Want Miles, Star People and Decoy and was instrumental in assembling that era’s formidable lineup, bringing in names such as Mike Stern, Marcus Miller and John Scofield.
Since then, Evans has performed with a who's who of musicians, including Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger and The Allman Brothers Band.
