After performing across Australia last year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Gomez albums Bring It On and Liquid Skin, the band’s co-founders Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball return for a greatest hits tour.
Gomez By Request will feature a series of intimate performances where fans can vote on the setlist. Expect to hear Gomez favourites including ‘Whippin’ Piccadilly’, ‘See the World’, ‘How We Operate’ and ‘Get Myself Arrested’ alongside deep album cuts and a few surprises. As the press release states, this tour is “no rules. Just two mates, two guitars, some electronic stuff, and decades of songs that have soundtracked road trips, breakups, breakdowns and breakthroughs.” Nostalgia overdrive!
Ottewell and Ball have locked in 14 dates, beginning with a gig at Geelong’s Barwon Heads Hotel on Monday 3 November. The tour continues with shows in a raft of capital cities, including Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, before the lads wrap things up at the Archies Creek Hotel in Archies Creek on Saturday 22 November.

Darlings of the late ‘90s Brit-pop scene, Gomez dropped their debut album, Bring It On, in 1998 to much acclaim. Landing at #11 on the UK Album Chart, the record spawned fan favourites ‘Get Myself Arrested’ and ‘Whippin’ Piccadilly’.
Just under 18 months later Gomez followed up with Liquid Skin, which peaked at #2 on the UK Album Chart and remains their highest charting album. The record was a surprise hit Down Under, cracking the ARIA Album Chart top ten and going on to be certified platinum.
Gomez have released five more albums since, with the last being 2011’s Whatever’s On Your Mind. Despite the lack of new material, Ottewell and Ball have continued to tour both solo and together and are regular visitors to our shores.
