Brizzy indie vets Ball Park Music are embarking on a massive 11-date Australian and New Zealand tour this May/June.
The tour comes in the leadup to the release of the band’s eighth album, Like Love. The record, which arrives April 14 (pre-order here), is named after the title track that landed at #43 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2024.
Supported by fellow Brisbane band Bean Magazine, Ball Park Music are excited to get back on the road and play for their adoring fans. “We are extremely excited to announce that we’ll be hitting the road in support of our new record, Like Love,” the band said in a press release.
“This run will see us return to many of our favourite venues in the country as well as making it to New Zealand for some of our first ever proper headline shows. The new record has seen us explore a more tender, introspective side of our band and we’re excited to redesign our show to accommodate this, as well as all our usual faves for the stage. Joining us in support for the Aussie leg will be our new fave Brissie band, Bean Magazine. We adore them and they’re gonna kill it. We couldn’t be more pumped to go. We’ll see you out there!”

Ball Park Music then have dates lined up at Bunbury’s Prince of Wales on Thursday, May 8, Margaret River’s The River on Friday, May 9, Melbourne’s Forum on Friday, May 16, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday, May 17, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Friday, May 23 and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, May 30.

Along with an album and tour on the horizon, Ball Park Music have shared the cheeky new single, ‘Please Don’t Move To Melbourne’.
“The origins of this song are old. Proper old,” Ball Park Music frontman Sam Cromack explains. “I can recall writing the chorus in a house I rented many moons ago. I remember the enchanting nature of the three chords being spread over six bars; it gives it this suspended feeling as if it could just go on forever and never resolve. But all I had was that chorus.
“Inspired by a time when many friends were departing Brisbane for greener pastures down south, it lay dormant for years. I didn’t know how to complete the story. When scratching around for material on this record I shared it with the band and they instantly connected. Again, the unusual number of bars made us wanna play it all bloody night. It just has this circular, infinite quality to it. As we did that, I kinda just let the melodies and all those subconscious ramblings bubble up and suddenly we had verses! It’s endured a strange construction, but it’s truly one of our favourite songs we’ve made.”
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by the band’s guitarist, Dean Hanson, that features famous Brisbane landmarks, including The Wheel of Brisbane, the XXXX Brewery, Kurilpa Bridge and the Wally Lewis and Darren Lockyer Statues.
