Bad//Dreems Drop Fifth Studio Album ‘Ultra Dundee’, Announce Hiatus

Catch the Baddies one last time at Gather Sounds in April.

It’s a bittersweet day for Bad//Dreems fans. While the Adelaide outfit have dropped their highly anticipated fifth (and best) studio album, Ultra Dundee, the five-piece have also announced they are going on hiatus.

The Baddies have come a long way since their humble beginnings in a warehouse on the banks of the River Torrens in 2012, establishing themselves as one of the country’s top rock outfits.

Reflecting on the band’s history, Bad//Dreems guitarist and songwriter Alex Cameron says, “It seems only yesterday that we started Bad//Dreems in Sharpies warehouse in an Adelaide heatwave. We feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to do things beyond our wildest dreams.

“In particular, we feel very privileged that people have taken an interest in what we do, turned up to shows and bought our records. For now, we’re putting the band on ice to percolate on all that we’ve achieved, and to give us all a chance to dedicate more time to our families, jobs and other projects.”

Ultra Dundee continues the band’s vision that began with their seminal debut Dogs at Bay, and features 11 tracks that peel back the layers of Australian culture and society and focus on what’s happening in the darkness underneath.

The release of Ultra Dundee coincides with Bad//Dreems new single ‘Night Shooting’, written from the perspective of a drought-stricken farmer facing ruin.

Accompanying the single is the fourth in a series of music videos directed by Kaius Potter that follow the character Ultra Dundee, played by Ben Marwe.

Going out on a high, you can catch Bad//Dreems perform live this April and May, kicking things off in their hometown of Adelaide with their two-day festival Gather Sounds on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 April at Adelaide Uni Cloisters and UniBar with a bunch of their best mates, including Beddy Rays, Phil Jamieson, West Thebarton and more.

The band then has four headline shows locked in at Melbourne’s Thornbury Theatre on Saturday 18 April, Sydney’s Marrickville Bowlo on Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May and Brisbane’s Brightside Outdoors on Saturday 2 May.

Bad//Dreems will go down as one of the greatest bands to come out of South Australia, joining the likes of Cold Chisel, The Angels and The Superjesus.

Their career spans 15 years, five albums, sold-out tours and songs that highlight the real Australia, with the band continually voicing their support for truth-telling and the recognition of the ongoing mistreatment of Aboriginal people

After spending much of 2025 on the road celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album Dogs At Bay and supporting Grinspoon, Bad//Dreems fifth album and upcoming tour serve as a celebration of the band and a fitting send-off.
