Founded by vocalist Erdinç Ecevit Yıldız and bassist Jasper Verhulst in 2016, Altın Gün made a splash with their psych-folk sound with the release of their 2018 debut album, On.

The ensemble's spin on Dutch folk and Anatolian psychedelia has led to six full-length studio albums, with this year's Garip being the band's first since the departure of female vocalist and keyboardist Merve Daşdemir.

Having spent much of this year touring their new album, including appearances at Fuji Rock and Sziget Festival, along with a performance for BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall featuring fellow Anatolian folk messenger Derya Yıldırım, it's now time for audiences in Australia and New Zealand to get their chance to catch this breathtaking band in the flesh next year.
