Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds have revealed Kiwi singer-songwriter Aldous Harding as their Australian and New Zealand tour support.
The indie folk artist has released four albums, often working with acclaimed producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse), and gained a reputation for her engaging live performances.
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ Wild God Tour will see the band perform songs from their latest release alongside tracks spanning Cave and co’s four-decade career.
“I can’t wait to get to Australia and New Zealand with The Bad Seeds and to bring you our epic Wild God show,” Cave said in a statement. “It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve missed both Australia and New Zealand very much. It will be a wild and mighty joy.”
The Wild God Tour begins in Perth at Fremantle Park on Saturday 17 January, before heading to Adelaide’s AEC Arena on Tuesday 20 January. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds then perform two shows at The Domain in Sydney on Friday 23 January and Saturday 24 January and one show at Brisbane’s RN Showgrounds on Tuesday 27 January, followed by three gigs in Melbourne’s Alexandra Gardens on Friday 30 January, Saturday 31 January (sold out) and Sunday 1 February. The tour wraps up at Wellington's TSB Arena with two shows on Thursday 5 February and Friday 6 February.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Wild God is the band’s eighteenth album and was produced by Cave and Warren Ellis and mixed by David Fridmann.
The ten-track album has received unanimous praise from critics, with The Guardian awarding it an impressive five stars in their review, calling it a “masterpiece [that] will make you fall back in love with life.”
Cave described the album as “a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious,” adding, “There is never a master plan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy. There’s no fucking around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it.”
The Wild God Tour has been working its way across the UK, Europe and North America to rave reviews, with the two and a half hour performance a tour de force of Cave’s infectious personality and his band’s incredible musicianship. If you don’t already have a ticket, we suggest grabbing one asap to avoid FOMO.
