Whoever thinks glam rock is dead hasn’t heard Akaye ensemble Mulga Bore Hard Rock. The Aussie rock sextet combine ‘80s glam with modern rock riffs to create an infectious sound, and today, Mulga Bore Hard Rock have announced the release of their debut album, Sweet Home Mulga Bore, out Friday 29 May via Community Music (pre-save here).
Working alongside producer Dave Walker and Craig Harneth at Hothouse Audio St Kilda studio, the band have crafted eight raw and ready rock tracks that explore Mulga Bore Hard Rock’s upbringing in Mulga Bore and their outlook on life and connection to Country.
Made possible with support from Songlines Aboriginal Corporation, the Bush Music Fund and Bright Moon Trust, Sweet Home Mulga Bore features the previously released singles ‘Young Men’, ‘Heavy Rain’ and title track ‘Sweet Home Mulga Bore’, along with the just released ‘Stay’.
A loverlorn ballad, ‘Stay’ sounds like something from the KISS vaults, with Mulga Bore Hard Rock’s Alvin Manfong having this to say about the track, “This is my first love song. I met a girl and I fell in love, but we were both far away from each other with our families, and we didn't see each other – I just wanted her to stay with me. It's a beautiful story. But really, this song is for anyone who's ever felt lonely – that feeling where there's no way out, but you have to get through it. For couples, for close friends, for anyone missing someone”.
