Adelaide Guitar Festival arrives back in town next month to knock your socks off with some of the best acts the world has to offer. To sweeten the deal, they’ve got a $30 deal for those under the age of 30. Here are the events the young guns from our office have pencilled in their calendars…

MILLAH HANSBERRY Age: 21

LAU N OAH AND LIOR

What: Two transcendent musical talents, Lau Noah (Catalonia) and Australia’s own Lior in one unforgettable evening at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Why: This show is Lau Noah’s first performance in Australia! She comes highly praised by Phoebe Bridgers and recently collaborated with visionary Jacob Collier – marking her as a ‘musicians musician’. Lior is also performing his new album in full, making this a night not to miss.

TROY CASSAR-DALEY AND NANCY BATES

What: A night of captivating storytelling, goosebumps, and world-class musicianship from the highly decorated Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung man and guitarist Troy Cassar-Daley, and soulful Barkindji woman Nancy Bates.

Why: Many musicians can tell stories through their music, but only few are storytellers. Troy Cassar-Daley is a storyteller to his core; and happens to be a phenomenal singer and guitarist too. Full. Body. Chills.

OSCAR ELLERY Age: 27

DUO S IQUEIRA LIMA AND YOUNG TAEK JO

What: The extraordinary talents of Cecilia Siqueira (Uruguay) and Fernando de Lima (Brazil), bring us an unparalleled fusion of classical precision and Latin passion to the stage.

Why: The guitar is often considered a very Western instrument, however some of the most beautiful guitar music comes out of South America. The unlikely colliding worlds of Classical and Latin music will no doubt be a beautiful experience.

GUITARS IN BARS

What: Guitars in Bars showcases South Australia’s dynamic live music scene in great venues across the state.

Why: Adelaide has a rich selection of fantastic guitarists representing many different styles. This show is a fantastic opportunity to experience the state’s talent at some of the best local venues. Nikko and Snooks are ones to catch if you’re into blues.
