Congrats on the release of ‘Loser’! How did the song come to life?
‘Loser’ started as two different demos that slowly morphed together. It’s a song about waiting – waiting for things to change, waiting for things to get better, waiting for a solution to fall in your lap. Or rather, how unproductive that can be.
When you’re stuck in this floating feeling, it’s easy to feel like a loser [because] you’re focusing on the things you don’t have and how much happier you think you would be with them. The song quirkily pokes fun at this and highlights that life is shaped by our choices and actions rather than external circumstances.
You’re headlining Jive on September 28. What should people expect from this gig?
We’re going to come out swinging every night on this tour and leave it all on stage, so expect a balls-to-the-wall type of energy with some softer moments and some new material we’re really excited about!
You’re touring the East Coast, too. How have you found connecting with interstate audiences?
Travelling around this year has been an absolute dream and we’ve had the best time making so many new friends at the shows. It’s crazy to see all the people who have made a connection with our music singing in the crowd so far from home and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
What’s next for you musically?
There’s a lot more music to come. We’ve been doing a lot of writing and we have a bunch of material that feels like the best stuff we’ve done yet. And it’s dropping sooner than you might think….
