Congratulations on your new single, ‘Bleeding Blinds! Tell us more about this track.

Thank you so much! This track was one of the first originals we pieced together as a band and quickly became a staple we’d play at every gig. We believe that this track truly underscores the beginning of our music journey, defining a small part of our expansive sound. We like to think of this track as a taste of what is to come!

This is your debut single. How does it feel to have something recorded out in the world, and why was this the single to lead with?

As our debut track, we are still trying to process the fact that our own composition (created in our backyard shed) is being enjoyed by fans and listeners. In all honesty, none of us has fully comprehended that we have a song out, on all platforms, under our names. In terms of why we chose this song, we led with it because it was so well-received at all our gigs. The feeling when the crowd sings your own song back at you, especially when you haven’t released it yet, is unreal. We felt we needed to take a shot, spend the cash, and record the song to see if it could achieve broader success.

You launched the single at the Austral on January 9. How was the energy in the room, performing the released track to a live audience?

Our first-ever single launch and proper headliner at the Austral was well unmatched by any gig we’ve done prior. The gig sold out, filling the room with audience members shoulder to shoulder. The room was loud, likely due to the energy pumping through the crowd. We left ‘Bleeding Blinds’ toward the end of the set, building a lot of hype and anticipation throughout. Finally playing the song was arguably our best moment yet as a band, with the crowd yelling the lyrics despite its release only a few hours earlier!

Even Hannah was formed in mid-2025. How did this project come together?

Even Hannah was spontaneously formed after Archie, Billy and Theo all went into the school’s annual musical, which featured all 3 of us as leads in 2025’s Grease production. We noticed each other’s abilities, which led us to jam out some of our favourite songs. We then hunted for a bassist and came across Lucas, a few grades below us, but years ahead musically. We kept jamming out of love for our growing sound, booked a few gigs, and released a single, leading us to where we are now.

You’re playing Local Noise Festival at Unibar on February 21, a grassroots mini fest, showcasing 7 of SA’s emerging indie acts. How does it feel to be performing on this lineup?

Honestly incredible. There are so many amazingly talented bands on the bill that, although deemed “local”, are reaching horizons we can only dream of now. Honestly most looking forward to putting our guitars and sticks down and listening to the other talent!

Who on this lineup are you most excited to be playing with?

We’ve played with many amazing acts such as Loader Lane, Pash and Sticky Beak, but we are certainly most keen to share a stage with the other incredible bands such as The Hazys, Colter and THE FUSS; acts we have looked up to throughout our beginnings in the music scene.

What should we expect from your set?

If you’ve seen us live before, there’s a rough idea of what to expect. If you’re a new face, what are you waiting for? Come down and support the cause! Our Local Noise set will give you a good idea of what we’re about and a taste of the releases we will be putting out in 2026. We always hear that our sound is so diverse, as we take from multiple genres. All in all, there’s bound to be something for everyone in our set!

What’s next for Even Hannah in 2026?

Over the next year, we’re focused on releasing our first EP and taking it on the road to reach new audiences. We’ve been lucky to sell out smaller rooms, and our goal now is to build on that momentum by headlining larger venues while staying true to what makes our live shows special. For us, this starts next week, as we are getting back into the studio and starting our 6-song EP. Stay tuned for so much more. We are only just getting started!
